"Life grows by being given away, and it weakens in isolation and comfort. Indeed, those who enjoy life most are those who leave security on the shore and become excited by the mission of communicating life to others". Pope Francis, Joy of the Gospel

You are already a missionary. You became one when you were baptized.
God continues to invite us to participate in the mission of love. Although most of our mission work of sharing God's love happens at home, work and in our local neighborhoods and communities, being able to step out of our own culture and context can help us appreciate God's love in a whole new way. Crossing borders and encountering our brothers and sisters around the world is an opportunity for a mutual exchange of the joy that comes from the Gospel. We not only evangelize, but are evangelized!
Through this program we offer group mission trips that invite teachers, DREs, deacons/wives, and other parish and diocesan ministers encounter Christ on the margins, experience the Church as Missionary, and enliven their own communities and ministries in mission when they return.
Our immersion program includes:
Professional and ministerial development before, during, and after travel
Accompaniment by a Maryknoll Mission Education professional
Encounter and relationship building with individuals, families, and communities in the host countries
Visits to Maryknoll programs and partner programs which serve as models for working with the poor and marginalized
Orientation to social, political, and economic realities
Daily reflections and faith formation activities
Ongoing support and consultation
These immersion experiences are offered as an extension of the ministry of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers for those feeling a call to voluntarily participate in our spiritual and pastoral work as an expression of their faith. Acceptance to participate is in the sole discretion of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers.
