Upcoming Trips

These week long Summer and Winter immersion trips to El Paso, TX will expose you to the current realities at the US/Mexican border as thousands continue to flee to the US to escape violence and poverty in their own countries. You will have the chance to hear first-hand from immigrants, those who work with them, while also getting input from the Border Patrol and an immigration court judge. It is an opportunity to learn, judge, and analyze for yourself in light of the Gospel what our responses might be.

The trip is particularly designed for teacher, catechists, deacons and other parish ministers, but is open to all who are open to learning and then sharing from what they have learned. The usual winter trip in December has been moved to the first week of February 2023. Click the link above to visit the page for this immersion and view photos from the latest trip. Join us to experience the challenges and joys of the Great Sioux Native American Nation in the context of Maryknoll’s mission work with other indigenous peoples around the world. Indigenous people are rich in ancient traditions and culture, but oftentimes pushed to the margins of society. Nonetheless, they have many lessons to share about caring for life-in all its forms. The Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers are privileged to accompany and serve the indigenous peoples around the world, including Indonesia, Tanzania, Guatemala, Peru, and Bolivia. Living side-by-side with the Maryknollers have helped empower indigenous peoples, to embrace their spirituality and culture, combat poverty, and build communities grounded in peace and social justice.

This immersion trip is offered to contextualize and reflect on the experience of our brothers and sisters of the Great Sioux Native American Nation in South Dakota in light of the challenges and opportunities facing indigenous people around the world.
