Teacher Mission Partners

A network of Catholic educators committed to helping youth and families transform the world through faith, love, and service.

WHAT IS MISSION?

Mission is our baptismal call to seek and share God’s love. We are each invited to know, love, and serve our sisters and brothers as Jesus did. As Pope Francis proclaims, we do this "above all" with “the poor and the sick, those who are usually despised or overlooked" (Joy of the Gospel, 48).

MISSION AND YOUR MINISTRY

Everyday Catholics young and old are increasingly inspired by the humble witness of Pope Francis, and are longing to live their faith more fully. As a Catholic educator, you have a unique opportunity and vocation to help others find joy and fulfillment in sharing God's love and making global and local connections with people in need.

PROCESS OF MISSIONARY DISCIPLESHIP

Missionary Discipleship is an ongoing, lifelong process of encounter with Christ, in a particular way through relationship with our sisters and brothers on the margins, which leads to a disturbance how we think, act, and feel, and ultimately a response to that disturbance, which leads to greater encounter.

Our Teacher Catechist Outreach team facilitates these processes for educators, and forms and resources them to do the same with others.

CREATING A CULTURE OF MISSION

Pope Francis challenges the Church to create a “culture of mission,” one in which all Christians know that we are called by our Baptism to be missionary disciples. Maryknoll partners with Catholic educators to help youth and families answer this call to mission.

  • Formation programs centered on mission principles and best practices
  • Mission experiences for educators through immersion programs
